Start planning your ideal dog-friendly holiday today
Travelling with a dog can be a lot of fun, but careful planning is required to ensure that your furry companion is safe, comfortable, and happy. To help you plan the perfect dog-friendly holiday, we've put together a list of our top tips we’ve learnt from all of our doggy holidays over the years.
Plan ahead for activities
Although this might sound obvious, it's tempting to jump into your car without any preparation. Research dog-friendly activities in the area, from the best walks to parks, hiking trails and pet-friendly restaurants – at Widbrook Grange, for example, your pooch is welcome to dine with you in the conservatory or gardens. Having a plan will help you to avoid any unpleasant surprises and ensure your dog (and you) has a great time. The last thing you want is to be wandering around in search of dog-friendly places to eat with no luck.
Pack the essentials
Remember to pack all the essentials, such as food and water bowls, a lead, waste bags and any medications your dog may need. Also, bring their favourite toys and any other items that will help them feel comfortable and relaxed. A travel carrier can be a great option for small dogs, too. Here at Widbrook Grange, we have a comfy doggy bed ready for your pooch to use during their stay, but you're welcome to bring your own.
